Other Ants

We have experience eliminating all sorts of ants.  Far too many to mention here by name.

Pavement Ants dig up small piles of sand and small pebbles around slabs and pavers.

Pharaoh Ants are super tiny and ghosts ants are hard to even see.  Thatching Ants build

big mounds and Argentine Ants are super aggressive.

These ants may or may not produce winged members.  Winged ants are reproductive's

that work to establish new nests.  Not all ant species produce winged members but many

do.  If you don't know which type of ant you have - don't worry -we can still help.  We can

customize a treatment to meet your pest control needs.

Many of these ants are fairly common but we get the majority of our calls about the big three.

Carpenter Ants (1/4 inch to 1 inch long)

Carpenter ants occur in different colors and sizes, although we do get lots of calls about big black ants.

All species can, and often do, cause structural damage to both wood and insulation when they nest in it.

The main nest site for a Carpenter ant colony is typically in a stump or the base of a tree and the main nest site is rarely ever inside a home. The nest in your home is just one part of a larger connected colony system with multiple nests in a colony.

Ants from the main nest site will reinfest your home for two main reasons: whatever attracted them to your home to begin with will still be attractive to them after our treatment, and all nests in a colony are connected by chemical 'scent' trails that are reinforced avery time an ant uses the trail. As long as the main nest site is around, and it can be hundreds of feet away, your home will be in danger of reinfestation.

Odorous House Ants / Sugar Ants

(less than 1/4 inch long)

They are sometimes call piss ants, sugar ants, or grease ants.

We call these little black ants 'odorous house ants', because of the disagreeable odor they give off when you smash them.

These ants can nest anywhere in a structure and can be in your home for years before being noticed.  They will often seem to go away, only to return with a vengeance if you leave a good food source out for them.

The sometimes enormous OHA colonies have multiple queens and spraying them or baiting with the wrong bit can often cause the queens to split up and relocate to different parts of the structure.  These should be treated with caution.

Professional pest control operators have access to both sprays and baits that are not repellant and that won't chase these ants all around your home. Want more info?  Click here.

Moisture Ants (less than 1/4 inch long)

As the name implies these ants occur in moisture rich environments.

If at all possible, actions should be taken to reduce or remove the cause of the moisture which made it possible for these ants to infest.

If this can be done, than a remedial treatment should help keep these ants under control.

If it can't be done these ants may continue to be a problem.  Additionally the moisture necessary for these ants will also cause rot, which can be expensive to replace.

We inspect for moisture sources and give recommendations at every service.
